White blood cell
White blood cells from the urinary sediment in a patient with acute cystitis. These cells seem to be neutrophils and there are many bacteria in the background. Unstain, X400.
White blood cells from the urinary sediment of a patient after an operation for cancer of the breast. The cross-sections of the white blood cells are slender and these cells look like a school of fish. Signs and symptoms of urinary tract inflammation were not found by the physician. Perhaps these white blood cells were from the vagina and were transferred to the plastic collection vessel during urine collection. Sternheimer-Malbin stain, X400.
