White blood cells from the urinary sediment in a patient with acute cystitis. There is an ameboid white blood cell. Unstain, X400.

White blood cells from the same urinary sediment of the preceding patient. The ameboid white blood cells are still live, and it is difficult to stain with supervital stain. Sternheimer stain, X400.
