Solid growth forecast for the healthcare sectorThe health industries and medical equipment in the Middle East and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC ) are set for robust growth rate in the coming years , especially in the countries of the region have announced plans to build large hospitals and advanced medical centers, in addition to expanding its current facilities .Speaking at a press conference held recently , Issa bin Ziyad Neil , general manager of Agfa HealthCare Solutions in the Middle East , said the medical equipment market is experiencing a growth driven by several factors such as population growth , urbanization , increased investments in government health initiatives and strategies , and the growing prevalence of related lifestyle , such as diabetes , high blood pressure, obesity and cancer .The Saudi health budget for 2013 reached $ 27.4 billion and is expected to achieve significant growth in the coming years to reach $ 47.7 billion by 2017 .
The kingdom announced a massive plan to increase the number of hospitals across the UK and include a plan to digitize health information exchange to help patients across the country with the aim of providing better health services to patients wherever they are and whenever they need .Agfa HealthCare Solutions recently hosted a gala dinner for the first level health professionals in the Belgian Embassy in Riyadh in the presence of the Ambassador of Belgium Marc Vinck and Christian Reinaudo , CEO and President of Agfa Gevaert Group, the parent company based in Agfa HealthCare Solutions Belgium , and a group of dignitaries .The Belgian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia has recently completed a series of business development meetings with the Ministry of Health and key players in the market to further promote the Belgian healthcare solutions and development plans for the local market .
